Is there any good reason for the ST not to add it? It has specifically been not rejected by the ST.
That doesn't answer my question.
Please link to anything that states the Scratch Team will add this extension.
I can't find it at the moment, but an ST member has said in a post that the team knows about this suggestion but is unsure how far along the process it is.
This is definitely false, you can't even remember which one said this.
No, this is true. It's in the rejected suggestions thread. They say that Scratch on consoles is rejected, but connecting controllers to Scratch is not rejected, and they provide a link to this page.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean they are adding it right now. It just means it's not rejected. There's a big difference.

The main takeaway I got was that it isn't being added yet

It has been there since at least 2021!

according to the official rejected suggestions, this suggestion isnt rejected and the ST even links to this forum meaning they know we exist and are thinking about it

They actually said that this is a feature that they would keep open for suggestions.

I think this is a good idea.
all the blocks in the original post are good, and I think another block to add could be:
move (x) steps in [left/right] controller direction

This is a great idea, and it should be a feature already.
an extension would be a great idea.

Everything is kinda “yea, this should be a thing”

but when is the last time they updated scratch?
january 2nd 2019.
I don't know when the last extension was added, but it feels like with a post from 2017 this is an old idea and either there is no hope for it, or they are working on it.

Don’t know why this hasn’t been added yet there are multiple solutions discussed here that make it simple to implement.

alternate suggestion: if this doesn't work, have the ability for the user to map a key to a button/axis within the project.

The point of this sugestion is to make it work! Button maping isn't analog and also doesnt have rumble support.
