Cloud data not connecting?

Hi!

This isn't actually the right place to be discussing issues. The official place to do that (where the scratch team can see it) is the link below! Thanks!

Cloud data not connecting?

Every time I load a project with cloud data, it gives me the loading screen saying “Connecting to Cloud data server” after it loads the project's assets.

I am not a New Scratcher, and was given the Scratcher status a very long time ago. I have played cloud projects before. This started yesterday when I was editing one of my latest cloud projects.

My browser / operating system: ChromeOS 9000.50.0, Chrome 56.0.2924.53, Flash 24.0 (release 0)

My browser / operating system: Windows 7, Chrome 55.0.2883.87, Flash 24.0 (release 0)

Same with me.

TBH, I'd quite like to see that topic closed, since it's way too general, and attracts too much noise. (I used to follow it, but got a bit fed up with it, until the recent Flash cloud problem.)

Fairly often, the problems that are raised with cloudvars in a project are ‘one-offs’ that are not really to do with the cloud system in a general sense (which was really the point of the topic, I think) but are rather to do with the project itself – but they end up in that topic anyway.

I find it's better having (mostly) a separate topic for each cloud problem someone has, with each being relevant for a specific problem with a specific project, where that's appropriate, so it can be dealt with and forgotten.

Of course, the current situation with latest Flash failing to connect to cloud is different in that respect, since it's the same problem that everyone is having – but if the opening topic for such a thing is written well enough, then most others should notice and add to it in that case (rather than creating new topics). Though, even if they do create new topics, they can be reported as dups (as I did for several) and closed with a redirect to the most active/oldest relevant topic.

There's clearly some serious issue happened for some people – but not everyone.

Did this start happening after updating to Flash 24.0, by any chance…?

Does anyone here have Flash 24 and have cloud working?
Conversely, does anyone here have this problem, but using earlier Flash…?

I have 24.0 and it doesn't work

BTW, I'm assuming you completely quit and relaunched Chrome since you installed 24.0.0.186?
The installer sat there and sulked until I quit all browsers.
Hmmmmmm…… Reinstalling the older version (24.0.0.186) works for me after having the latest (24.0.0.194) installed – I've done it several times now.

Also, adding the line “EnableInsecureSocketPorts=1” to Flash's mms.cfg file allows cloud to work fine for me with 24.0.0.194 installed. (In particular, I can briefly add the line just before [re-]loading a cloud-enabled project, and it'll then connect fine. Once loaded, I can remove the line and carry on as normal.)

Did you have to uninstall the new Flash (24.0.0.194) before it let you install the older (24.0.0.186) one? –I found I had to do that on my MacBook, but if you didn't then maybe it's something that you do need to do before the older version can work correctly with cloud?

Cloud data not connecting?

The issue I encountered with this appearing in Chrome Canary since Dec 27th must have been Canary using the Jan 10th update of Flash before it's official release as this same problem is now encountered in Edge after updating to the Jan 10th Windows 10 version. Do we yet have a timescale for how long it may be until the new Cloud Data version will be brought online as a replacement to the old port 531 connection? Not only is the old version now creating problems with Flash, but while fallback is the only option, working on multiplayer projects is virtually impossible.

Cloud data not connecting?

I have this exact same problem I tried switching browsers(I was using chrome but switched to opera) but found I didn't have adobe flash installed I downloaded it and again I couldn't use projects with cloud variables. I would also like to add that my computer doesn't seem to like using the https fallback method (I use a school computer that I get to keep so it is probably Bluecoat unified agent which is used to block websites and other things on websites my school doesn't want students too use)

Yes, I have downgraded to Adobe version 23(just to be safe) and the cloud data works perfectly.

How can a thread expire? If you mean close, it's still not working for me, so it can't have been completely fixed.

I don't know why. I just loaded a cloud project and it started working the way it should.

Yes, I meant closed manually. I'll leave it open for a while.

Is it that I still haven't changed my version of Flash?
