Cloud data not connecting?
Every time I load a project with cloud data, it gives me the loading screen saying “Connecting to Cloud data server” after it loads the project's assets.
I am not a New Scratcher, and was given the Scratcher status a very long time ago. I have played cloud projects before. This started yesterday when I was editing one of my latest cloud projects.
My browser / operating system: ChromeOS 9000.50.0, Chrome 56.0.2924.53, Flash 24.0 (release 0)

Cloud data not connecting?
The cloud is in a very weak state and takes a while to respond, that's probably why you see that loading. The cloud still works most of the time, it just takes a few seconds to update. Every time I load a project with cloud data, it gives me the loading screen saying “Connecting to Cloud data server” after it loads the project's assets.

All projects say “Connecting to Cloud data server.” The computer/browser just needs some time to hook up! This has always been happening, even though the cloud is weak right now. It takes “forever” to load. I had it on for a few hours and nothing had changed.

This started happening to me today as well. I wanted to check out the ppap game and the loading screen froze, it nearly crashed my computer. Cloud data not connecting?
There's clearly some serious issue happened for some people – but not everyone.
Did this start happening after updating to Flash 24.0, by any chance…?
Does anyone here have Flash 24 and have cloud working?
Conversely, does anyone here have this problem, but using earlier Flash…?

Interesting thought. I've certainly known a Flash update affect Scratch behaviour before now. How do you check what version you have?

I can confirm I have Flash 24. It just so happens I installed it manually this time, so I can also confirm it ties in exactly with the timing of the cloud problem.

Was it version 24.0.0.194 that you installed (released Jan.10th)?
Was your previous version 24.0.0.186 (released Dec.13th)?
If so, can you check what happens if you down-grade back to 24.0.0.186?
If not (i.e. if you installed 24.0.0.186 over v23.x), can you try the latest 24.0.0.194?

OK, I think here is the source of the problem – and it looks *bad*…
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2261853
Note the final answer (and my emphasis):
I think that means there's no chance of Flash connecting to cloud on fast port 531 from now on…
(But still, I'd have thought the Scratch player should eventually give up and fall back to polling…? –Maybe the player doesn't deal correctly with the exception thrown by Flash?)
Looks to me like the only solution for now is to downgrade Flash to 24.0.0.186.

Note the final answer (and my emphasis):
While updates to the official documentation are forthcoming, I can confirm that we've expanded the list of blocked ports to include the following:
1, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 23, 25, 37, 42, 43, 53, 77, 79, 87, 95, 101, 102, 103, 104, 109, 110, 111, 113, 115, 117, 119, 123, 135, 139, 143, 179, 389, 465, 512, 513, 514, 515, 526, 530, 531, 532, 540, 556, 563, 587, 601, 636, 993, 995, 1720, 1723, 2049, 3659, 4045, 5060, 6000, 6566, 6665, 6666, 6667, 6668, and 6669.
To resolve this issue, our recommendation would be to modify your content and corresponding socket server to use a port that's not included in the list above.

Cloud data not connecting?
I just rolled back to Flash 24.0.0.186 and tested stuff in Chrome and in IE.
Opening projects:
Chrome: I can open projects without cloud variables, but it hangs when I try to open a project that has them. (Same as latest Flash.)
Internet Explorer: No dice. Whether on project page of Look Inside, there's just a white rectangle of screen where Scratch usually is. (Was fine in latest Flash.)
Creating projects:
Chrome: Lets me create a project, but… when I try create a variable, the checkbox for cloud doesn't appear. (EDIT: A few minutes later, the checkbox is back. However, if I create a cloud variable, save project, close and reopen project, it's back to the same as before… flaky loading with the cloud variable info pop-up yo-yo-ing and the stage area stuck on the cloud loading message.)
Also, there's a little (warning?) exclamation mark over the Share button. But it behaves as if its working. (EDIT: A few minutes later, exclamation mark is gone. :-) )
Internet Explorer: No dice. Entire browser content area plain white. (Was fine in latest Flash.)
Sigh. What's a scratcher to do?

Well my computer recently download flash 24, or so it told me. One of my projects a new, less buggy one by me doesn't work, along with all other projects on scratch, including your cloud checker. But my other, more buggy, older one does work properly, despite having cloud data. Any ideas? There's clearly some serious issue happened for some people – but not everyone.
Did this start happening after updating to Flash 24.0, by any chance…?

I have been playing https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxy.canberra.edu.au/projects/18999390/ and I couldn't get past the cloud data. I have tried downloading the project but it kept freezing before I could. Anyone else got this?

Try clearing your browsing data/history and reopening Chrome. Log in again and it might work (at least it worked on a student's computer who was having this problem).
