Hello everyone! I have always wanted a forum dedicated to comics, so I thought I'd just make it. Personally I only read American comics ( Marvel, Image, DC, etc.. ) but every type of comic can be discussed here.
Looking for some comic to read? Here's a list of comics I recommend, which don't require much prior knowledge of other comics or none at all. I'm including the official age ratings of those comics ( I disagree with some of the age rating given to them, but I'll stay faithful to the official ones ), and a short description of them taken from wikipedia. Also, I'm doing my best to include all genres and publishers in this list.

Saga
Publisher: Image Comics
Age Rating: 17+
Description: Saga is an epic space opera/fantasy comic book series written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Fiona Staples, published monthly by the American company Image Comics. The series is heavily influenced by Star Wars, and is based on ideas Vaughan conceived both as a child and as a parent. It depicts a husband and wife, Alana and Marko, from long-warring extraterrestrial races, fleeing authorities from both sides of a galactic war as they struggle to care for their daughter, Hazel, who is born in the beginning of the series, and who occasionally narrates the series as an unseen adult.
The Sandman
Publisher: DC Comics ( under the Vertigo/Black Label imprint )
Age Rating: 17+
Description: The Sandman is a comic book written by Neil Gaiman and published by DC Comics. The main character of The Sandman is Dream, also known as Morpheus and other names, who is one of the seven Endless. The other Endless are Destiny, Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium (formerly Delight), and Destruction (also known as ‘The Prodigal’). The series is famous for Gaiman's trademark use of anthropomorphic personification of various metaphysical entities, while also blending mythology and history in its horror setting within the DC Universe. The Sandman is a story about stories and how Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, is captured and subsequently learns that sometimes change is inevitable.
Daredevil: The Man Without Fear
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Age Rating: 13+
Description: The series explores the origins of the hero Daredevil, whose real name is Matthew Murdock. The first issue explores his childhood, the accident that caused his blindness and powers, as well as his father's death. Throughout the series, readers are exposed to many important characters in Murdock's life, from his mentor, Stick, to his college flame, Elektra, his best friend, Foggy Nelson, and even one of his most primary nemesis, Kingpin, also known as Wilson Fisk. Throughout the comic, Matt Murdock develops his abilities, struggles with anger, and becomes Daredevil.
Batman: The Long Halloween
Publisher: DC Comics
Age Rating: 13+
Description: Taking place during Batman's early days of crime fighting, The Long Halloween tells the story of a mysterious killer named Holiday, who murders people on holidays, one each month. Working with District Attorney Harvey Dent and Captain James Gordon, Batman races against the calendar as he tries to discover who Holiday is before he claims his next victim each month, while attempting to stop the crime war between two of Gotham City's most powerful families, Maroni and Falcone.
Something Is Killing The Children
Publisher: Boom Studios
Age Rating: 13+ ( It should be higher in my opinion )
Description: When the children of Archer's Peak begin to go missing, everything seems hopeless. Most children never return, but the ones that do have terrible stories—impossible stories of terrifying creatures that live in the shadows. Their only hope of finding and eliminating the threat is the arrival of a mysterious stranger, one who believes the children and claims to see what they can see. Her name is Erica Slaughter. She kills monsters. That is all she does, and she bears the cost because it MUST be done.
The Immortal Hulk
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Age Rating: 13+ ( It should be higher in my opinion )
Description: You know Bruce Banner. He's quiet, calm, never complains. He's a man who believes he can use the darkest elements of his personality to do good in the world. If someone were to shoot him in the head…all he'd do is die. But the horror lives deeper. A horror that refuses to die. When night falls something other than the man gets up again. The horror is the Immortal Hulk.
Invincible
Publisher: Image Comics
Age Rating: 17+
Description: Invincible is an American comic book series written by Robert Kirkman, illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, and published by Image Comics. Set in the Image Universe, Invincible follows the coming of age of superhero Mark Grayson / Invincible, a Viltrumite and first-born son of Omni-Man, the most powerful person on the planet.
Black Hammer
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Age Rating: Not Available ( I couldn't find the rating online, in my opinion it should be 15+ )
Description: Ten years ago, Black Hammer and six other superheroes saved Spiral City from the Anti-God, but in the process became trapped in Rockwood, a timeless Twilight Zone-ish town. Shortly after the heroes arrived, Black Hammer died while trying to escape. In the present, the six heroes live on Black Hammer farm with very little hope of ever escaping Rockwood.

I'm glad you made this! I don't read the comics, but I'll gladly feature a link to here in the notes of MCU topic.

I haven't read any of these, but Sandman seems really cool. And I had no idea how much of The Batman movie was based off The Long Halloween.

I highly recommend Long Halloween, it's the definitive Batman comic

Cool. Do you recommend reading Miller's ones first though? (Year One & DK Returns) I can't remember if they're canon but they seem cool.

They're both cool. DK Returns is not canon for sure, Year One is in a bit of a gray area because there have been many versions of Batman's origin story throughout the years, and it's unclear which one is canon ( I'm pretty sure the one that's currently considered canon is Zero Year by Scott Snyder, and that's a pretty good comic, but not as good as Year One )

If Sandman sounds cool to you, there's a really good Sandman TV show on Netflix that came out earlier this month. Same age rating as the comic though

I'll check it out.

Also, I had just come here to perform necromancy on this forum, and I saw you had posted. I think we both had the same idea.

Real talk though:

The best storylines of all time are One More Day and All-Star Batman. Archie Comics are better than all other comics. Also, Ben Affleck's Batman is a perfect representation of comics Batman. Unpopular opinion: Punisher should not kill.

I highly recommend Gwenpool Strikes Back. It’s a miniseries sequel to the original Gwenpool series, and it’s really good.
Age rating (In my opinion): 13+

Hi there! I’m a Marvel and DC fan who loves creating comics in the AMU, my own Marvel comic universe! Some of my other hobbies include eating pizza, obsessing over corgis, and listening to music!

I honestly prefer comics from the 60s - 80s. (Although I did really like War of the Realms)

And the Clone Saga! Also, Pa Kent telling Clark to let a bunch of kids on a bus drown is a perfect encapsulation of the 2 characters.

Right, I almost forgot about Trouble, a beautiful story that does no disrespect to anything Marvel had ever published.
