You don't need to know HTML to understand this function, you could see it happen by pressing a link while pressing ctrl (command on mac).

Could be useful for many ppl, tho I think it´d be nice to somehow distinguish between the links which open in a new tab and the ones which open in this tab, otherwise ppl would get used to clicking on the links instead of right-clicking them and opening them in a new tab, and then a standard link would make them have these problems u mentioned
