In America, this is sometimes achieved by disabling the “reading” ability, which allows you to remain untouched by the sign´s wiseness when staring at it.

I don´t hate u, sowwey if you feel this way- (I just pointed out that the number of people not reading important signs is quite high/too high for any retail worker)
