README - What this forum is for
EDIT: Clarified things a bit.
I have seen many a person post something unrelated to open source software here and it is driving me mad! As a proud Linux geek, it gives me pain and anguish.
This place is NOT for discussing any projects that you are working on. For those, you need the Project Ideas cave or the Show and Tell forum. This is also not for discussing yourself, Sonic or whatever.
Here, you can discuss Scratch's open source projects, which are the underlying parts of Scratch that get it to work. People can access and edit the code of Scratch, kind of like how you remix somebody else's project. Basically, this is a forum for making ‘remixes’ of Scratch itself (Note that you require an account for a website called GitHub for that, and it is written in JavaScript not Scratch so only real computer geeks can do it).
Since I'm not good at describing, here is the wiki article
Open Source is when you create some software and release the code of it for people to view, edit and fork (remix) your code. And to confuse matters more, the term Free Software also refers to Open Source rather than stuff you don't pay for.
Also, don't confuse this for the Advanced Off-Topics.
Remember that, or my army of evil kumquats will eat your siggy.

The more you nag for it, the less likely it is to happen.

This should probably be stickied! This is my first post on the Open Source Projects forum. I found myself asking “Is this an open source project?” and also getting confused because I was thinking “Maybe this is an open source project. Or maybe it isn't?”. This is really helpful, so thank you!
I am officially reopening my account. I decided this is the best way to go.
