Using cloud variables to connect a project to gemini.

^ basically I would use the scratchattch cloud request system to send questions to gemini and send back the replies. I just wanted to make sure that this is allowed before I spend hours working on it.

I’m pretty sure manipulating cloud variables with scratchattach is allowed, although disliked by the ST.

I don’t know about connecting them to Gemini tho. The AIs don’t have a Scratch-level filter built-in so the AI might return inappropriate responses.

AI is usually pretty well moderated and I would use the translate block to amke sure you are not typing inapproriate words in a message as well as translating the message from the chatbot for dual safety.

It is very easy for an AI to say something inappropriate, even if you didn’t intend it to.
For example, I mentioned a certain programming language that has a swear word in its name to ChatGPT, except I replaced the swear word with another word which is not a swear word, though it did not read the room and responded using its actual name. Quite a specific scenario, but I’m sure there are likely plenty more.

As for using the translate extension for filtering, that is still not sufficient as Scratch’s filter is possible to bypass, which the same reason this is also not a sufficient solution to free cloud chats.

Yeah, I just tried asking AI what (redacted, because I don't want people searching it), and while exactly none of the prompt is inappropriate, it can most certainly lead people to inappropriate things- and the results it gave me were inappropriate.

Not hard to imagine it could do it again.

Did you try google gemini for your tests? In my experience it is much better moderated

Yeah, I don't recommend continuing with that idea. Projects that us AI can produce a lot of inappropriate content. So far as I know, they are unshared from Scratch when they are identified.
