My signature cannot be changed and is preventing people from posting. Is there a workaround?

I learned that my signature is preventing others from posting, including this one. The page breaks and the button to submit a post is hidden, and when I want to change my signature to stop this glitch, there is no button to change it as well!

I now rely on the Scratch Team to change my signature for me, preferably a blank signature, so people can post in my shop and more
*unless there is a workaround.

Your signature is using an unsupported unicode emoji.

You can report one of your own posts mentioning that you need your sig changed as you cannot do it yourself. Pretty sure that's what needs to be in this situation, but I may be wrong.

i use librewolf 131.0.2-1 (as of writing)

I seem to recall that an unclosed “center” tag can also cause this problem.

Unfortunately, as a moderator, I also can't see a button to save a change to your signature. I seem to recall somebody figuring out a way to use Inspect element to “push” the invisible button - or otherwise trigger the save operation. Maybe somebody over in Advanced Topics has a procedure. I'll move this over there and see if any of the smart folks can help us out.

Try seeing if it shows, but just shows as a very tiny button (that's what's happened a lot of the time for me)

Fun_Cupcake_i81: What, were you expecting not to see the utc - 12 thing again? THE UTC - 12 THIGN ALWAYS RETURNS. ALWAYS.
medians: I knew it would happen. I was the one who started it last year.
Fun_Cupcake_i81: Well then if you didn't want it back maybe you need to time travel to last year and fix that

Oh wait if you could time travel I think we all know exactly when you would go-

user2: But this is medians we're talking about, so “from 2.0” can mean the same thing as “from five seconds ago”.

hi paddle2see! on the signature page, if you right click > inspect element (this should work on chrome and firefox), and head to the panel that says ‘Console’, and paste in this javascript, you can simulate pressing the submit button.
document.querySelector('.form-submit').children[0].click()

https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/console/javascript

if it's your first time pasting javascript into the console, i think modern browsers force you to type some magic phrase “enable pasting” or something like that.

I discovered Scratch in 2015 and created games and animations. From 2020 to 2023, I worked on Scratch browser extensions, found security vulnerabilities, and maintained a forum search engine called ocular. In the summer of 2024, I was an engineering intern with the Scratch Team. Now, I'm ready to finish my last year of high school. Scratch on!

Fantastic! It worked like a charm. That's going in my little book of handy forum tricks. Many thanks.
