News Article
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
For this week's new article, we are going to talk about a bank robbery that has been committed.
This crime was reported to have happened on July 12, Friday, at approximately 5:34.
The bank that was robbed was the Scratch Bank of Mangoes.
About 324 mangoes were said to have been taken, though this number could be inaccurate, due to the bank's secrets about the Mango Count.
Here is a witness's description of the event.
“I had just finished taking out a few mangoes from my bank account when suddenly there was a crash. I turned around to see a broken window and three people standing in black, with bits of glass all over them. They went right to the bankers and demanded that they give them all the mangos. At first, the bankers resisted, but the mango robbers brought out their mango shooters, which were loaded with mangos. When they were held at mango-point, the bankers became a lot of compliant with the robbers, and quickly got three big bags of mangos, which looked to be full to the brim. After that, the robbers ran out of the bank and quickly drove away in their mango bus. Everyone was pretty shaken after that, and I think someone called the police, who arrived shortly after.” Talia Wood remarked, during her short interview.
Here is a description of the event by one of the bankers.
“I had just finished up with a customer and was relaxed for a bit since there weren't any more people for me to help when I heard a crash. The window had broken, and three people who were dressed in black had shards of glass all over them. One of the robbers came up to me and yelled at me to give him to give them all the mangos. At first, I said no, since they didn't seem to be armed. However, one of them pulled out a mango shooter and held me at mango-point. I felt pretty nervous after that. After all, they had mango shooters! So, I went into the back, and grabbed three of our big bags of mangos, then handed them to him. Then, they just walked away! I think they drove away in a mango bus, though I'm not sure. My co-worker Maleena called the police, and they came pretty quickly, inspecting the bank and asking questions.” Lilith Rogers said in her interview.
There are multiple suspects for this robbery since the robbers hid their identities by dressing in black. One of the most likely suspects is the Mangoers, who were popular for their mango robberies back in the day. One of the members of the Mangoers who had been captured and put in mango jail was asked his opinion on the matter.
Here is his opinion.
“I'm not really sure if the Mangoers did it. I know the Boss Mango had a big plan, though I never learned what it was. It could have been this robbery, but it feels too simple for the boss. The boss always liked complicated plans and such, and this doesn't feel like one of his schemes. It could have been them just trying to get a few more mangos for the team. This could definitely be part of a bigger plan, and I think that it just might be. Overall, I think we would just need more information to tell. Hopefully, the mystery gets solved soon and everything can go back to normal.” Mark Davidson replied during his questioning.
Please note that Mr Davidson may or may not still be allied with the Mangoers.
The next suspect for the robbery is the Mango Thieves. Popular for their brightly coloured mango bus, they could very well be the real mango robbers.
A detective who had worked on catching the Mango Thieves for a very long time was called to ask his opinion on the matter.
“I think this could very well be a crime by the Mango Thieves. It's simple, it's easy, and it seems like something that they would do. The Mango Thieves are known for their simple schemes and big, coloured mango bus. It definitely could be the Mango Thieves that robbed the bank of its mangoes. I hope that the mystery will be solved very soon and that everyone will be safe.”Detective Marel Granger remarked while sharing his thoughts.
It seems the mystery remains unsolved for now, but the police and a group of detectives are on the case. Meanwhile, mango banks are taking extra precautions to defend against robbers, such as adding extra cameras and stationing police outside the banks. Please, stay safe, and tell the police any information you have about the robbery, and be very careful as you use mango banks, but that's it for this news article.

The aesthetic of the cafe is amazing, and so are the workers. The workers are so kind and cheerful and are delighted to give you your mangoes. you can tell that they are definitely mango fans too. I'd for sure give this place five stars, but I have one problem. I think the menu needs more items. It feels like it's lacking a bit, and there could be more items for sure. So, that takes off one star for me. But that's the only problem I have. I'm definitely coming back to the Mango Cafe again, and I hope whoever is reading this decides to go too!” Laney Jane commented.
“The Mango Cafe is the best! I love the mango decorations, it really just sets the mood! The workers are just lovely, and they are so helpful and friendly! In all the times I've been there, they have never made a mistake with any of my orders. The mangoes taste fresh and delicious, and I just love how each meal was made with care, love, and of course, mangoes! I don't have any problems with the Mango Cafe. It's sweet, simple and just so enjoyable to go to. I'm definitely going to take some of my friends here for a party.”
Joel Basinal commented.
The average rating for the Mango Cafe is 4.5 stars.
70% percent of ratings are 5 stars.
15% percent of ratings are 4 stars.
5% percent of ratings are 3 stars.
5% percent of ratings are 2 stars.
5% percent are 1 star.
The workers at Mango Cafe enjoy their jobs a lot. They love to serve mangos to people, and they love working there. Every worker there is dedicated to their job, and they put lots of love into each meal that they make.
Here is what some workers said when they were questioned about what they thought about their jobs.
“I just love working at the Mango Cafe! Everyone is so nice and fun to talk to. You can tell that the people who go are real mango lovers, and that they really love the place. It's so fun serving people and seeing them happy when they get their food.” Ana Manog said.
“The Mango Cafe is just amazing. It's great being able to interact with other mango lovers, and I just love making mango dishes for people. It's great putting time and love into these meals.” Bobby Jones said.
Would you go to the Mango Cafe? We hope you enjoyed this review!

What's your advice What's your advice for if my home keeps getting robbed by ducks and I keep finding the things I lost on the duck-only market?
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Oh no! Your home has been robbed by ducks, and they are selling your stuff!? Don't worry, I've experienced this once before, and I know the steps you need to take in order to protect yourself. First, you must contact your local police department and tell them about the duck-only market. It's likely illegal, and you can probably get it shut down soon enough, to protect other people too. As for getting robbed, I would suggest putting up cameras, so you will have proof that the ducks are robbing you, then send that to the police too. I hope this helps and stay safe!
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
What do I do if the Duck Deity ate all the other cabins and Fan-fi's the only one left? More importantly, what kind of feast should I prepare to celebrate?
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Oh no, you don't need to worry about this! This will never actually happen, thankfully. The Duck Deity would obviously eat Fan-Fi first, and then all the other cabins, besides Script of course. But obviously, the Duck Diety will only come if someone summons them. This would also probably never happen, since everyone knows Script would be the only one left, and then Scratch Writing Camp wouldn't be fun anymore, with no cabins to rival Script. We would just win every time, and there would be no point to write. So, no, this will never happen, and you don't need to worry.

What should I do if I realize I forgot the milk but just came home from the store?
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Oh, you forgot the milk? Well fear not, because I have a simple solution for you. First, you need move to a farm. Then, you'll need to buy TWO cows. You'll need two, since the first cow will need a friend. Then, buy a lifetime supply of food and water for the cow. After that, you'll need to learn how to milk a cow, and buy the supplies you will need. After THAT, you can milk your cow and make your milk. You'll never have to buy milk again, for the low price of buying a farm, two cows, and milking supplies! It's a great deal.

How do I convince my parents that SWC is important enough for me to spend all day and night on?
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Oh, your parents are unbelievers in the wonders of Scratch Writing Camp? First of all, tell them how important writing with friends is, and how you can get lots of critique that will improve your writing and you can improve others' writing. Then, explain how the completion between cabins teaches and gives you motivation and dedication to writing. THEN, tell them that Scratch Writing Camp encourages leadership, dedication, motivation, and friendly competition, and overall you can have a good time with friends and fellow authors.
Hope this helps you convince them you CAN pull an all-nighter and that SWC is very important. )

Is reality even real?
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
Good question! This is a fairly complicated question, and I'll do my best to answer it. So, what is reality? The dictionary calls it: “the state of being real.” Can we prove that we are real? It seems to me that there is no way to prove this, so really it is up to each individual person to decide if they believe reality is real. I personally believe that reality is real, but it's up to everyone else to decide for themselves. It seems there is no real easy way to answer this question, but I hope this helps anyway.

SWC July 2022 - Weekly #2
weekly (all done ) (2360 words )
Part 1: Politics (815 words)
For this mayor election, the candidates are Mr. Han Pros, Mr. Keith Adel, Mrs. Poppy Turnai, and Mrs. Janice Willows. Those four are running for mayor! It’s up to you to pick the best choice for our wonderful Spirit City. A survey conducted to our customers last week showed that about a third of the people of Spirit City would like Mr. Keith Adel, about 30 percent of the people would like Mrs. Janice Willows, about one fifth of the population would rather have Mrs. Poppy Turnai, and slightly less than a fifth of the society would like Mr. Han Pros. But anything can happen! If you like Mr. Han Pros, he can definitely still win. Don’t worry!
Mr. Han Pros, who is thirty-nine years old, went to Himparla University. He got a master’s degree in politics and a bachelor’s degree in government. He was born in Pallia, which is about twenty kilometers away from Spirit City, in 1987. He moved to Spirit city after he graduated from Himparla. Mr. Han Pros’s vice mayor is Mr. Trevor Scantly. Trevor is thirty-four years old and has graduated from Himparla as well with a bachelor’s degree in politics and government.
Mr. Keith Adel is thirty-four years old. He went to Limanio University and got a PhD in politics. He was born here in Spirit City when he was 1991. His mother was vice mayor for Hardel, which is fifteen kilometers away, for four years. Mr. Keith Adel’s vice mayor is Mrs. Alexis Duns. Alexis is thirty-six years old and went to Linke University. She got a bachelor’s degree in politics and a master’s degree in government.
Mrs. Poppy Turnai is forty-one years old and went to Limanio University as well. She got a PhD in government. Mrs. Poppy Turnai was born in Wanfot, which is five kilometers away from Spirit City, in 1981. She had then moved here to Spirit City when she was seven years old. Poppy Turnai is the current mayor and is hoping for re-election with her thirty-nine-year-old vice mayor, Mr. Lance Hy. Lance went to Kraister University and got a master’s degree in politics and a bachelor’s degree in government.
Mrs. Janice Willows is thirty-seven years old. She went to Linke University and got a master’s degree in politics and government. She was born in Old Spirit City in 1990, and then moved to Spirit city when she was fourteen years old. Janice’s vice mayor is Mrs. Ashley Hill. Ashley Hill is thirty-nine years old, and she went to Compian University. Then she got a bachelor’s degree in politics and government.
Voting starts exactly three weeks from today. When that time comes, there would be a page on the Sprit City official website, spiritcity.gov, which you can vote, or just type in spiritcity.gov/mayorvote. You have one week to vote for your favorite mayor and vice mayor. To vote, just go to the page, enter your information, and then enter your most liked mayor and vice mayor to represent Spirit City. Then, press submit! If lose this and forget how to vote, don’t worry! In three weeks, when voting starts, an envelope would be sent in the mail. Inside, there would be a brief overview of each candidate and the instructions for voting. Voting results would be out in a week after voting ends. That new mayor would take office three weeks after that.
Why should you vote? That’s a great question. Voting would make Spirit City have a leader. This leader would represent Spirit City, and everyone would see the mayor when finding about us. This leader also controls what happens in the city. Rules and regulations can be taken down, set up, or modified to fit what the mayor wants. Different mayors would do different things, and it is up to the population to elect what mayor they like best. That mayor can do whatever they want to do with Spirit City. Even though you one of thousands of people, your voice counts. Every vote for every candidate makes it a higher chance for them to win.
Don’t know who to elect? Totally normal. Deciding who you want to vote is a long process. There are ups and downs of each candidate. First, look at an overview of them. Know their political background. Then see what they would do. Do you like what they are planning? You can also look at advertising. Advertising the candidate by that person would most likely be good. It would show the benefits of voting for them. Advertising the candidate by another runner would probably be negative. It might show the downsides of voting for them. You can also look online. Looking up online, you can see basically everything smashed together. You might see an overview of them, you might see what they would do, and you might see the upsides and downsides of voting for them.
Part 2: Restaurant Review (808 words)
We recently went to Mangoes Delight, a local Spirit City restaurant. It was an awesome experience, and this is the combination of all our employees’ reviews!
When we were first going there, we could tell it was going to be good. The location is spot on. It is smack dab in the center of Spirit City, the subway was two blocks away, and it is nearby many major highways! To get there, all you need is get the GPS to get you there! When you reach it, go to the store with an old sign that says, “Mangoes Delight!” The store may look small, but it is huge. The address of Mangoes delight is 193180 Specialty Way Northeast in Spirit City.
Mangoes Delight was downright amazing. First of all, the mangoes there were real mangoes. 100 percent. The mangoes were also sweet and perfectly done. We could tell these were freshly grown. They were so fresh we could even taste the freshness!
They had a gigantic parking lot which was almost filled, and there was no line. Inside, it was massive! Like a mansion sized restaurant! There is a slight music in the background, loud enough to be heard over the chatter but quiet enough to not be roaring in your meal. The lights were simply yet elegant, and they lit up the restaurant brightly but not too bright.
Also, there are so many dishes to choose from! There are pages and pages of so many mango foods, we all wonder how the cooks know all of them! There is such a variety! The types are mango drinks to sooth your thirst to mango meals for your hunger to mango dessert to finish off your meals, Mangoes Delight has everything!
One of the dishes we tried was the Mango Punch Double Deluxe. It was breathtaking! Just a little drop of it would send your taste buds wanting more in such an incredible way! 99.99 percent of the time, it doesn’t lead to Mango Punch Double Deluxe Addiction (MPDDA), but in that 0.01 percent chance, the risk of having severe MPDDA is almost 0 percent of that 0.01 percent! The flavors were very awesome, but not too much of it as well. Just right. We kept on ordering seconds! Not to mention the little price of the drink!
Another dish we tried was the Pure Original Mango Salad. Not the typical salad! It was also so flavorful but not too much as well, and very healthy. Who knew eating healthy was so good! It was nice and cheap as well.
We also ordered Popping Original Mango Noodle Soup with thin-stranded noodles. Tasty as all the other dishes, it was awesome. The surprising part was that it was so filling! The soup was rich, the noodles were thin and slightly chewy, everything was on target. The price even wasn’t high at all!
Something that was bought popularly by our employees was the Mango Stir Fried Rice. It was filled with taste but not that much. Perfect for rice. It was not near expensive, and it was great.
Finally, we bought the Classic Mango Sundae, and it was perfect. It wasn’t filling, great for our already completely stuffed stomachs. The mango flavor is bold, and it made our taste go flying! A perfect dessert to finish off the meal. Not expensive. Nowhere near.
After we paid and were about to leave, we found a little gift shop on the side! We couldn’t resist going, so we went to see what they had. It looked small, but we didn’t expect it to have so many items!
Mango jewelry, mango tips, and mango recipes for all skills are just the tip of the iceberg of everything inside! Not to mention that everything was cheap and perfect! We bought some mango zest, some mango accessories, a mango tips and tricks book made by Mangoes Delight themselves, and many more we couldn’t resist buying.
When we left, we started to feel a little sad. But never fear! We would always come back, and a lot of our employees are asking our head of if we can have a Mangoes Delight meal as a group at least every month.
Mangoes Delight is simply a… delight! With a wide variety of wonderful dishes, cheap prices, and the little gift shop, you would have a blast! Every single minute in there, we were absolutely stunned. They even allow birthday parties there! Surprisingly, after our meal, none of us had even had a slight tingle of starting to get over mangoes, even with so many mango foods! The workers were so nice as well! Feel free to ask them any questions.
Our recommendations? None! Just eat anything! We ate only a few of so many dishes, and they were all perfect. Go ahead and let your taste buds explore!
Part 3: Advice (526 words):
“Why are there three calculators on my desk where there used to be only one?” -
Fantastical_Words
Ask around! Someone may have put it there. If not, you may have forgot that you put more there. If none of those works, just see what happens – go on with life. If someone says they have a missing calculator later, tell them you somehow got more and show them the calculators.
“what should i do if i realize i forgot the milk but just came home from the store?” – gh0stwriter
Go back! If you think that wastes time, then if you can, get it when you go to the store again later. If you can’t go back and you need it now, you could get it delivered.
“I woke up this morning and now the world looks like it's actually a movie set. What do I do?” – Peach
_Drawing
If you didn’t get much sleep, you may be seeing things. Get some sleep! If you slept well, at least, you think so, pinch yourself. Make sure you aren’t dreaming. If none of those work, look around. Ask around. See what is going on. If people are acting normally, then go on with life. See what happens. If it continues, try to see if there is some way to get out.
“how do I sleep if I can't figure out how?” – Starfairyelise
Remove all electronics. Try doing something that tires you – something boring. If you don’t like math, try doing math in your head. If nothing helps, then now use your electronic devices to find how to fall asleep easily. Then put it away and try them.
“I recently manifested magical powers, but I'm having trouble controlling them. Any tips?” – KitVMH
Stop doing them or continue doing them. If you can, stopping them stops the whole power, including the controlling part. If you continue doing them, then it would gradually get easier.
“How do I not get writers block?” – ai_oue
Take breaks from writing. Get a chart with ideas for writing. Draw inspiration from everything – people, places, objects, activities, etc.
“I can’t seem to make any good cookies- whenever I bake any, everyone who eats them falls down dead. Help!” – smalltoe
Try and find good recipies from online. Then be careful making them. If you can find out why they die, then avoid doing it.
“How do I get ideas for stories? I'm so stuck-” – owlgoing-
Draw inspiration from anything. People, places, objects, activities, etc.
“I don’t know how to tell my sister I broke her favorite toy, what do I do?” – Rlove10
If you can, buy her a new toy that is similar to it, hopefully she mistakes it for the original. If not, try to fix it. If worst comes to worst, then wait until she asks where it is, and say “I don’t know.” This also works if it takes a while to get the replacement/fix it.
“My drawing came to life what do i do about it?” – 28jinj
If it is something dangerous, try to get rid of it. If it is something good, keep it. It depends on what type of drawing it is.

Title - Natural Disasters: What they are and how they happen
Hurricanes are terrifying, as are the losses and injuries they cause. A hurricane could even take you out! You have a chance of dying. You risk injuring yourself if you don't. In the best-case scenario, not a single hair strand will be harmed. So, here is a list of hurricanes and other foreseeable disasters that may affect you. Please keep in mind that all of this information was gathered from various websites. Things may not go exactly as planned.
First, let's talk about hurricanes.
A hurricane is similar to a massive, slow, flat tornado. Instead of a tail whipping down and vacuuming the land, there's a massive swirl of clouds dumping rain and spewing constant wind. and in the centre is a spiral of clouds with nothing happening in the middle of the spiral.
There is a very notable hurricane, Bonnie. That sounds like the name of a cute little child, right? Well, I'll tell you, it's not. It started sometime around late June near African Coasts, from a tropical wave. Though, it's weakened now and is predicted to end a few days later. It started as a tropical depression and then advanced to a tropical storm. After that, to a type 1, then 2 and 3. So, it is dangerous. But all things, good or bad, have to come to an end. Bonnie ended the same way it started, gradually. After reaching type 3, it weakened to type 2, and then 1. It went back to a tropical storm and is predicted to end as a tropical depression. But what makes this storm notable is the fact that it made the jump from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific ocean.
Another hurricane Darby has started. We won't talk much about Darby because we have more weather to cover. Darby started as a tropical storm, will stay like that for a few days and then progress to a type 1 hurricane and soon enough, go back to being a tropical storm before going out. Not that much of a memorable storm but the point is, the hurricane season has started in the Pacific Ocean, so always stay alert.
Now, let's talk about heat waves and wildfires.
A heat wave, also known as a heatwave, is a period of extremely hot weather that may be accompanied by high humidity, particularly in oceanic climate countries. While definitions differ, a heat wave is typically measured concerning normal weather in the area and normal temperatures for the season.
A wildfire is an uncontrolled fire that burns in the vegetation of the wildlands, often in rural areas. Wildfires can and have burned in forests, grasslands, savannas, and other ecosystems for hundreds of millions of years. They are not restricted to a single continent or environment.
In 2003, Europe experienced a brutal heatwave that killed an estimated 70,000 people. The extreme heat is thought to have been the warmest in up to 500 years, with many European countries experiencing their hottest days in history. Temperatures regularly exceeded 40 degrees Celsius across the continent over 30 days.
But wait! There's more. In the United Kingdom, the temperature reached 38.5 degrees Celsius in Faversham, which remains the highest temperature ever recorded in the country. The death toll from the heatwave was unprecedented, with heatstroke and dehydration being particularly lethal for the elderly. In France alone, approximately 15,000 people died as a result of the heat, which caused a shortage of space in mortuaries to store dead bodies.
Now, let's talk about one of the most deadly wildfires, the Marshall Fire in Colorado. The Marshall Fire was the most destructive in Colorado history, destroying over 1,000 homes and businesses and forcing tens of thousands of people to flee their homes at the drop of a hat as the flames swept through over 6,000 acres of land (9.4 square miles). The fire devastated the suburban communities southeast of Boulder, levelling entire neighbourhoods and large business centres such as a Target shopping mall, a Tesla car dealership, and a hotel.
1,600 people were still without power and 11,600 were without gas. Because gas utilities must be turned on individually for safety reasons, it could take days to restore heating to the homes that are still standing. The Salvation Army in the neighbouring town of Lafayette distributed bottled water and donated space heaters to those who lost their homes, and resources from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were deployed to the area.
The Marshall Fire was so destructive and astonishing because it spread so quickly and so deeply into a densely populated area. Typical wildfires in Colorado occur higher up in the foothills and mountains, often further away from the human settlement in what scientists refer to as the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI), the space where human development and wildland collide.
These were just a few of the deadly murderers of civilization. If you want to know about the murderers, I'll tell you this: Mother Nature is protesting. We dislocated her, so now, in return, she is dislocating us. She sent some of her best assassins to us. She wants us gone but we don't want to be gone. That is why it's time to make amends. Stop Climate Change. Practice the three R's. Stop using single-use plastic, and go green.

Question: So I know it says to choose one activity for each section and write (x) words for that, but for the “other”, would it be alright to do multiple different activities (eg a comic and some advertisements) that between all of them add up to 200 words combined?

Part 1 - Fake Crime. 823 words
Reporter: Breaking news! Last night at a quarter over ten, there has reported to be a robbery of mangoes from the mango shop headquarters. The robber has been seen in a short clip from security, but it has not been clear of the person’s look at all. In the short clip, the tint is very dark as it was pretty late when the robbery happened. It has been reported that the robber stole two very green mangoes from the store, and that the mangoes were priced one cent before they got taken. Now, let’s here some words from the store manager of the Mango Sensation and our interviewer!
Store manager: I must say, it was quite a robbery. We must have forgot to lock the door, because when we came in the next day, it was really such an easy thing to open the door! We saw no trace of footprints or any marking in or outside of the store. There was no broken item at all, but we were sure there was a robber because of the clip in our store.
Interviewer: Did you see what the robber looked like at all, any significant features on the robber? Did they have long hair? Did you see their height or anything? Can you trace back anything of them? Why do you think they wanted to steal those two green mangoes? So you have any other green mangoes like the ones the robber stole?
Store manager: Well I must say, those are quite a few questions! I’ll start from the beginning. We were going to the store today at around seven AM, and we did what we do everyday, we first check if everything is in the same place it was before.
Interviewer: And why do you do that, exactly, may I ask? Was there a robbery in your mango shop before? How do you know if anything is missing at all?
Store manager: Well, sadly, yes. I’m not very sure why everyone steals from our shop, but, there have been two other robberies at our fine mango store before. For the first time, the robber stole an unidentified amount of mangoes, we only knew though, because some family lived nearby and reported something. After the first time, we thought it would never happen again, so we didn’t expect a lot. We checked the clip that time, and, we saw pure darkness. The second time, we were sure that there was a robbery because it had happened early in the morning, but before we went to work. It was clear on cameras that it was someone because, well, it was early in the morning and stuff, so, yeah.
Interviewer: Tell me, why did you check the cameras on the specific day?
Store manager: Because, the day before, the first robbery happened. So we wanted to check again, and sure enough, there was someone.
Interviewer: What did the robber look like? Did the robber look similar to the person who robbed your store yesterday night?
Store manager: Well, the strange thing was, the robber: the second time, they had this costume on. It was a puffy costume with a lot of cartoon references. I was kind of confused and stuff.
Interviewer: Wow. Did they look similar to the person who robbed those mangoes last night?
Store manager: I don’t know, sorry. It was dark at night when it happened and we were at bed when it happened. It was the night the second robbery happened.
Interviewer: Wow. Hey, uhm, I have a question.
Store manager: Yes?
Interviewer: Why, just why did you have green mangoes in your store for one cent? Where did you get them from? Did you try them? Do they taste good? Are they eatable? Why are they green? Where do they grow from? And, I don’t think you answered this question before, though I did ask it: Did you have any other green mangoes in your store?
Store manager: Well, the mangoes were actually on a lot of discount because they were not very popular. We only had two left, the rest of them were for taste tests. Where they came from and grow from is not important. The mangoes taste great. And… well, they just are green and, yeah.
Interviewer: How will you try to prevent the stealing in the future?
Store manager: Well, it will be really hard, but I hired a team of top notch detectives and spent seven dollars hiring them all. They work to investigate. Also, few notes to those out there who might have stolen my mangoes. You don’t want to do it again, or else you will regret it!
Interviewer: Great, and I think that’s how we’ll wrap up today’s top breaking news. The Green Mango Mystery from the Mango Sensation store! I’m the Interviewer, and thank you for listening.
Reporter: Well that’s it for this mystery. Make sure you never steal mangoes again!
Part 2 - Restaurant(fake) 903 words
Reporter: Breaking News! Recently, a new restaurant has opened, as you may have known. This restaurant has already climbed to twelfth place on the chart in the nation for restaurant reviews. If you’ve been to Tomato’s Kitchen, you may have tasted the warmness of their signature tomato soup, and their other dishes, and we suggest you take it a go! Today’s report will be a rating on their restaurant from food critics and other people who have dined there. First, let’s here a few words from some of the food critics and a response from the manager!
Reporter: Here on Tomato’s Kitchen’s website, Food critic, Food Critic #1 rated Tomato’s Kitchen. Their comment reads: “Tomato’s Kitchen is a fine place to dine for average people. Not me. There soup is overrated by a ton, it’s to cold for my appetite and stomach and it tastes one hundred percent artificial and fake. But that’s not all! Their service is terrible, and there are rats all over the place, like in that movie, Rat-restaurant or something! It may seem like a good movie to some viewers, but rats are really not a good experience to have in reality. Their toilet is also extremely dirty and their bathrooms are very small. If you are looking to the closer details, you would hate this place. Also, their chef special, “Tomato and Cheese Salad”, is way too smelly. The cheese smells expired, and the tomatoes in this salad, don’t feel fresh at all! Let’s not even get to their prices, they stink as much as the cheese. It’s tons of money wasted on terrible quality food. This is not a good place to dine. Note to the chef: QUALITY over quantity. “
Reporter: Well, it seems like this food critic is not on the side of this restaurant. The manager of the restaurant replies to this message with a response on the website. It reads: “We are very sorry you did not like our restaurant, we quite enjoy serving the foods, and our prices are pretty well in our opinion. We won’t change a thing according to your selfish reasons. We use the money we get to buy more ingredients to make more of are quality dishes and for more utensils, napkins, chairs, tables, takeout boxes, and treats.”
Reporter: People who have dined at Tomato’s Kitchen have mixed, different opinions. Some people support the restaurant and some people support the food critic. And, we also have a few people who have completely different opinions. Though, we shadn’t pay attention to that.
Reporter #2: What do you personally think about the restaurant, reporter? I think it’s marvelous myself, though, I agree with the food critic on the part that it is quite pricy. And, don’t you think the manager was a bit too rough? The manager was quite harsh with their reply!
Reporter: Well, I’ll start from the beginning. I personally think that the soup is nice and warm. I love the salad, and inside, is a fancy place for sure. I haven’t seen any rats at all! The waiters and waitresses are also all very nice, indeed! Though, I do suppose the manager was a bit too harsh with their reply. I hope they get better at that part. Food critics just do what they do.
Reporter #2: No let’s here from another food critic in the area. This food critic goes by the name of “Bob”. He also posted a comment on the Kitchen’s website, rating the restaurant, a two out of five, which sure is more than what the first food critic wrote! His comment reads: “This place is fancy and all of that, but no. Not quite for me. Though, the reason I am rating this two stars, is because the place looks nice, there’s air conditioning, and some of the stuff here, is actually cheaper than a lot of other places. But, the food… whoever cooked the food, did not make sure the soup stayed cooked long enough, and the cheese in the tomato and cheese salad is smelly and gross. It’s also very squishy. When I first tasted the soup, I felt cold inside. Some people call the soup warm, but that just isn’t the case for me, then. The part I hate the most, though, is most certainly the stinky cheese. Terrible. And, the menu, no one has mentioned the menu yet! It stinks like the cheese. It’s all over the place. There’s Tomato and Cheese Salad on one side, and there’s the longest description either, and so on. Also, there’s only three dishes mainly, plus some other stuff, but it’s mostly sides and desserts. At first, I heard there were only two dishes, then they added French fries with signature tomato ketchup, and they added ice cream, and other stuff. Too random for me. I don’t recommend you coming here if you don’t like cold stuff, you like organized menus, or you hate smelly and squishy cheese. Never coming here again, except for the fries and desserts, but no. They taste actually ordinary. So never coming here again till they get good. Bye.
Reporter: Well, the manager didn’t give a response yet, and this kitchen is slowly gaining problems and pressure. Will people still come? We’ll have to find out soon. That’s all about opinions for now! I’m Reporter,
Reporter #2: And I’m Reporter #2
Both: And we’re both signing off!
Part 3 - Gossip (is this done correctly?) 609 words
Are you interested in people’s personal lives? Well then, this article is perfect for you! We’ve got tons of gossip here, on a little girl who lives in fantasy lane. Now, you might think she’s ordinary, but nope. You’re one thousand percent wrong. This girl is a pure legend. She comes to school everyday with style and fashion. But that ain’t all! She’s purely confident too, and can deal with bullies well. And, let’s not even mention, she’s a singer! You may know her already… maybe you’ve guessed her name by now… Linda Patsy McRonaldGarden! But, this is gossip. So, we’re here, talking about some of her secrets. And one of those, is her childhood.
When Linda was growing up, she was a great singer. In her household, she didn’t have a microphone back then. Hard to imagine, now that she’s singing on stage with confidence and has so many fans, right? But it’s really fascinating, cause… it’s true. And, back then, she didn’t seem perfect at all. Like, at all. She had messy hair all the time, and had countless amounts of bad hair days! Her expectations were low for herself. But recently, we got some information about how she grew from a small child with innocent eyes, low expectations, and lots of flaws, into the person we see today on stage rocking and having a good time. And what better way to start, then how she got from tiny and normal to a famous, viral, and popular singer on stage, who’s gotten, recently, a reward for her awesome works of music.
It all began when she was small, when her parents found out about her great talent. Later, she passed in a test on fantasy tests, and she became a singer. Now, not every singer becomes famous, but, later, she did. Her first song ever released, “Fantasy World for Me” was a hit in that year. She wrote it herself and played some of the music and sang. There wasn’t even auto tune! She decided to write it herself because, why not? And, since she was also great at guitar, she also added in some chords. For the extra music, she got her friends to help with that.
When she first started, she wrote a song similar to the one below. It was based up upon her life and happiness living in Fantasy Lane. The one right below here is the revised version:
We livin’ down Fantasy Lane
We got the woods,
The magical forests
We are
Enchanting
Fantasy
Fantasy
World and Lane
We ready
Up and ready
Enchanting day
New start
As a life as a singer
As a life as a
Member of the fantasy lane
We ready
To get up
In the morning
Because
Fantasy
Fantasy
World is
Just for me
And I gotta show it
To be
That way
Then, she gave it a tune and wrote some chords. She tested the chords out and, when she was happy with it, she recorded her first recording of the song. It didn’t sound correct, so she re-recorded it again, this time just with vocals. The tune didn’t sound quite right so she revised it. After that, she changed the chords. The sound sounded bland, so she got some friends to add some more music. At the end, there was guitar(Linda Patsy McRonaldGarden), piano(McRonald Lin Pat), and the triangle(Pat Ronald Lin). Then, they recorded it and checked and re-played till it sounded good. That was how they published their first masterpiece. Afterwards, the video and song got viral overnight. From then on, they usually followed those steps and came up with another masterpiece each time.

For part 4 can you write like about a concert 100 words and then about a farmers market 100 words for the invitations, or is it just one event?

SWC Weekly #2 - Newspaper
We’ve made it to the second weekly of the month! This time you’ll be creating a newspaper - throughout the activities you’ll get to write an array of segments. This weekly has four parts, all of which must be completed to earn points. Each part contains a list of options; you should choose one activity from each list to write.
You may begin the activities in this weekly at 12:01am on the 10th of July, UTC timezone.
Part 1: Main Informational Article (800 words)
Real-world — Any current events ongoing, perhaps a viral go fund me, or a weather crisis. Keep this one non-political.
Politics — Make up some political figureheads to write a fake article about.
Scratch news — About any event occurring on Scratch, explain its importance and impact on the community.
Sports — Describe a situation that is going on in any sport. Any team changes or major losses?
Fake crime — Write a report on a fake crime, but be sure to keep it Scratch appropriate.
SWC news — Any changes or interesting events happening in Scratch’s Writing Camp!
Satire — Utilize humor to express an opinion on a current event, keeping it non-political and scratch appropriate.
Part 2: Main Opinion Article (800 words)
Scratch opinion — Keep it positive only, write about the good aspects of Scratch
Book/Movie/TV review — About any book, movie or TV show you want to review. Make sure to keep it Scratch-appropriate.

Restaurant review — Write a review of a fake or chain restaurant.
Real world opinion — Keep it non-political.

Invitations (fake) — Birthday parties, venues, concerts, local events, etc.

Obituaries — A biography of an imaginary recently deceased person, time of death, cause of death (scratch-appropriate)
Horoscopes — Come up with your own readings for all 12 horoscopes, horoscope readings must be created by you
To earn 3500 points for your cabin, you should comment in the main cabin that you've completed the weekly and include links to the following:This comes out to a total of at least 2300 words.
- Your main informational article (800+ words) from Part 1
- Your main opinion article (800+ words) from Part 2
- Your column (500+ words) from Part 3
- Your miscellaneous section (200+ words) from Part 4
All proof must be provided before 11:59pm on the 16th of July, UTC timezone. If your weekly is late or incomplete, you will not earn any points.
Once again, you have an entire week to complete this weekly! There’s no pressure to get everything done immediately; and if you feel like you’re not able to complete this please don’t strain yourself <33
Good luck!
Thank you to Robin, Zai, Bakie, Zura, Sawyer, Birdi, and Lio for planning and writing this weekly!
Hi, just asking, can we do multiple things for one part? Like for the first part, we do fake crime and scratch news (800+ words in total)? Please answer me.
