this would all be great but scratch is free and to have a gamepad (xbox ps4 etc.) you need to pay money for the consle and probaly some games would NEED the gamepad to play
Makey-Makeys or micro::bits cost money, what's your point?
well probaly not as much as a gamepad cause you need to buy the consle to get the gamepad
Still, my point still stands. They still cost money, and some projects force you to use them.
I agree. Another reason why Scratch should not add USB controllers (even though I think this is a great idea) is not just money, but also TIME.
Imagine how much programming and time would be needed JUST to make an extension that anyone will barely use.
[offtopic]Also, congratulations on starting the 66th page.[/offtopic]
yeah its a good idea also just why pay that much to play like a few games

Yes! Also, you don't even need to buy a MakeyMakey controller to play projects.
You just need your keyboard… and that's it!

I meant that there are extensions in Scratch that cost money, like the lego extensions and all.
obviously the makeymakey is stillworth it

Thrift stores and eBay: exist
Also, there are joypad emulators that use the keyboard. I even proposed one built into this feature not 5 pages ago.

I don't think it would be as much as you think.
Sure it would still take some time, but many would use it.

You can get cheap third-party controllers for like $20, basically the same price as a micro:bit

ok so I'm back could this controller work? : https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61uBflPaWaL._AC_SX679_.jpg Its a steam controller so maybe it would be a little bit easier to function?

well since there so cheap that means most of them are bad but micro::bit is fine for this cause micro is so tiny

Lol its a steam controller but some coding could be the same since It DOES the same layout of a Xbox controller i mean it could be easier since its made for pcs

2. It's not really controller support. It's just basically emulating a keyboard. This means pressure sensitive buttons, like triggers and analog sticks, won't work well if at all.

Yes! That's exactly why I want this support! It would make playing on controllers better on Scratch, and without any add-ons!
