Are you sure your file ends with a .html? I think you made it end with .md, meaning it's only for markdown. Also, you should write

<!DOCTYPE html>

you can code on github but i recomend getting a ide like replit it makes it so much easier and simpler

you can code on github but i recomend getting a ide like replit it makes it so much easier and simpler

Except it's like blocked along with glitch. You could use gitpod though, I guess it;s pretty good (it's like VScode)
