People sometimes say stuff like “My aesthetic is a forest”, and it really confuses me. I looked up what ‘aesthetic’ meant, and it said:

“Aesthetics, or esthetics, is a branch of philosophy that deals with the nature of beauty and taste, as well as the philosophy of art. It examines subjective and sensori-emotional values, or sometimes called judgments of sentiment and taste.”

My question is, how does that make you have a certain aesthetic?

On Scratch aesthetic is usually a series of 5 favorited projects that fit together in one way or another.

They are projects and studios that you put on your profile by favoriting or following them. The ones I see are usually a series of photographs or animated thumbnails that either are closely related to each other, or fit seamlessly together. They are designed to decorate your profile in some way. I have also seen some that write sentences on their profiles too. Some people create accounts completely dedicated to making aesthetics.

They're just 5 projects/4 studios for you to favourite/favorite (or follow if they're studios) to decorate your profile.

An aesthetic is 5 projects or 4 studios that you favourited (if a project) followed/curated (if a studio) to form an image/set of images/animation/clip to decorate your profile. An example of one is on my profile.

Here is the first studio that was dedicated to making Aesthetics. You can look at it (and the people who are in it) for examples of aesthetics/aesthetic accounts.

A person's aesthetic is generally something with a vibe that generally resonates with them and/or relaxes them, at least for me

Some aesthetics are images that are… um… just one image. Basically. And they might take up two rows of projects. Or three. Or 5. You can still see the whole image in if you go to view all the projects, in case you were wondering.

an aesthetic is the style of a project, not just a row of projects you favorite

basically just means a theme, someone's theme could be strawberries and they would have a strawberry aesthetic for example.
