Oh okay, got it! I agree with that.I was intending for it to be just products as I don't want any shops feeling like they're worse than others. I want to make sure I understand your tier concept, though; we assign each shop a grade/tier (S, A, B), for the shop overall, and then for each specialty/product they offer?
An opt-in or opt-out option sounds like a good compromise here. I would like to add that maybe the newsletter can be posted here as well (on top of the opted-in shops' topics) if you weren't already thinking of that.(…) it can serve not only as a bump for our thread, but also a recap of what has been going on in the USS, have a brief list of recent additions to the federation, some hiring opportunities, and possibly promote a “featured shop.” This could be done on some sort of interval, although daily would obviously be too frequent.I do understand his concerns surrounding spam but the thing is when I owned the Diamond Union the services were frequently discussed amongst staff members but never used by shops. Maybe in the joining form, it could ask if a shop wants to opt into the newsletter? Somewhere on the front page could also discuss the newsletter and the benefits of having it. Perhaps we can change it so that the newsletter is only posted on this thread instead?
Concerning bumping, that is a membership perk that hasn't been discussed yet, but I have mixed feelings about. Hey, just wondering, will people be able to bump my shop for me at least once a day, or does it not work like that. With the forum being under construction, it's hard to tell.
Although it could be an appealing benefit for some, I feel like it oversteps our involvement in shops in a way. I'm not trying to be rude, but I feel as though shops should be responsible for bumping their topics themselves. Even when the owner(s) is/are inactive, the shop should remain closed or the ownership should be delegated to someone else: whichever is best.
Edit: Another way to put this is, I believe that shops should bump their topics themselves.
It's a good thing that you pointed out that the USS is apparently still under construction. I think we're at a good point to remove those disclaimers now. Even if we're still working out things such as benefits for shops, the fundamentals for this federation seem to be all ironed out.

Staff Application:

Username: 84375
Average activity x/10: 9/10
Forum experience x/10: 7/10
Work examples: I have actively been a curator/manager of several featured studios and run my own non-forum-based shop; I help out occasionally in the forums, scrolling through the “unanswered posts” page to see where I can help.
Why we should hire you: You should hire me because I have experience with handling shops and studios, and have dealt with many different situations. I have been on Scratch for a while, and have grasped a good understanding of how to use the forums. I love to help out in whatever way I can. Additionally, I meet all of the requirements listed.
Have you been banned or muted?: I have never been banned or muted.
Other information: I think that I would be best in the position of Moderator. After reviewing the old thread for the USS, I believe that I could fulfill the positions responsibilities.

A weekly bump could just be in the form of the optional newsletter (which would be stated in the perks of the newsletter).Concerning bumping, that is a membership perk that hasn't been discussed yet, but I have mixed feelings about. I just think it shouldn't be implemented, we already have a lot of people on Scratch who are leaving.Assuming this is about their tiering suggestion, do you have any feedback on how to refine it? Or do you just not want that to be implemented at all?*sarcasm* Yup, that sounds like a great idea. Just the best idea I have ever heard. Nope. Nothing about that would make shops want to leave and then never come back. n o p e. ~snip

Also there's a lot of anti-kumquat equipment to protect this siggy but the kumquats are too scared to come within 100 kilometres of me. Perhaps it was the untold events of September 9th, 2018.

Application for ModeratorI have reviewed your application and you seem to be a good candidate for the job!
However, I want to ask others what exactly the position of moderator does. Do moderators just ensure that this thread stays on topic?
Oh, I'm fine with that. Anything more than that I feel we should leave to the shops to do themselves, then. A weekly bump could just be in the form of the optional newsletter (which would be stated in the perks of the newsletter).
What is your main concern? If it's about shop services being “ranked” and the possibility of some to feel insulted by their “ranking,” another alternative to consider is for us to just create a list of shops with the shops divided into their specialties, skipping over the “ranking” part of it. I just think it shouldn't be implemented, we already have a lot of people on Scratch who are leaving.

1. Yes, that is my concern.
2. That would be very useful.
