Is Scratch Itself Open-Source

I understand that all of the projects on the Scratch website are open source, but is the actual source code open source?

Yes. It's open source. You can find the code here. If you want to contribute, create a GitHub account and make a pull request in a repository.

It is, but I'm not sure whether it meets the requirements to be considered Free (as in freedom) Software due to the trademark policy and proprietary plugins.

The more you nag for it, the less likely it is to happen.

yes;

I discovered Scratch in 2015 and created games and animations. From 2020 to 2023, I worked on Scratch browser extensions, found security vulnerabilities, and maintained a forum search engine called ocular. In the summer of 2024, I was an engineering intern with the Scratch Team. Now, I'm ready to finish my last year of high school. Scratch on!

This is random, but SOMEONE besides me recognizes Linux. Wow. Also, is there a package in the Debian/Ubuntu repository for Scratch? I know there is on the Raspberry Pi repo, but I don't know of anything else.

Rasbian should use debian apt. If it's not installed via apt, no

I think it is because of features like remixing and backpack

As of right now, according to the download FAQs, the only officially supported version of Scratch supported for Linux is Scratch 1.4 (https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxy.canberra.edu.au/scratch_1.4/) or the web app. I can't wait for 3.0 to be ported to Linux!
