The Colour Shop Review

Preliminary Inspection (8/10)

The first thing any customer comes across if they discover a shop is the title. Your title includes some symbols that tie with the shop slogan really well, and I haven't seen in many other shops. The use of a slogan is great - it makes your shop really memorable. I don't think that fancy fonts would benefit your shop, as it would make it difficult to read (you already have square brackets and some symbols). Your banner is beautiful, and makes the shop look very professional. You sell banners, though, so it might be nice to have a banner made by your staff, as extra portfolio proof.

The welcome is a lovely addition to your front page and makes the shop feel friendly and approachable, without damaging the professional quality. The colon in the heading makes it feel a bit like a form, though - replacing it with an ellipses or exclamation mark might help there. The ‘why choose us’ is very unique and I love it! There are a few grammar and spelling issues in there, which are easy to fix, but dampen the professional tone a little. your directory is also lovely. Using text instead of banners for it makes it accessible to a wider audience, including those whose devices block image hosts. You might want to put some more space between the directory, credits and heading on post 1 however as it looks a little cramped.

The rest of the front page looks pretty good as well. I recommend checking the grammar/spelling for the rest of the page as there are similar issues throughout, and possibly adding some spacing or removing some of the details (like joining date) from the staff list and BoD. It is worth noting that the news and history pages are relatively empty: you have elected lots of new BoD members recently, so that would be a great thing to put of the page. Also, the UoC does exist but has not been linked from the front page.

I noticed when trying to order that there is no definite list of what you sell. Yes, it does mention what each member can make, but if I was looking for a shop to get aesthetics I would be more likely to find one that i knew definitely sold what I was looking for.

Overall, The Colour Shop comes across as a friendly and professional shop! The grammar and spelling needs checking, a few updates are warranted and some parts look a little crammed but otherwise it is beautiful.

Service (10/10)

My order was taken swiftly, and I was notified about it through a newly-implemented notifications system. Monkeylover200, who took my order, asked me questions about my specifications and gave me updates on the wait time for my order - it was a lovely experience and I never felt confused or “in the dark” in any part of the process, unlike in other shops I have visited. The profile notifications could have been more professional, but they were effective and regular which is worth more to me as a customer. When my order was complete (after only one day of waiting), it was posted on my profile and their forum. The customer service here was exceptional - I was asked if I needed any changes and it was great. Overall, the customer service i received was very impressive, with friendly (if a little unprofessional at times) staff throughout and I would gladly return on that basis.

Product (7/10)

I was a little vague in my order, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. Of course, they offered to change it, but I think I would probably have reordered somewhere else as I'm not sure that they understood me. I was looking for a pretty, tasteful aesthetic for my profile and the product didn't quite fulfil that for me. it had all of the elements I had asked for, but they didn't fit together in a way you would expect when ordering aesthetics. For example, I asked for my brand colours and they used my logo; I asked for bees or lavender and it had two clip art bees on a white background and an image of lavender. This was partially my fault, however, as I wasn't very specific. In conclusion, it followed my brief well but lacked artistic taste and cohesion.

Overall (8.5/10)

Overall, the Colour Shop is a friendly shop full of polite and welcoming staff. The ordering experience is very nice and they are a reliable shop!
