Add noobs to scratch
I think y'all should add noobs to scratch. If you are a noob, it says so on your profile and changes your picture to a noob

Add noobs to scratch
There's already the “New Scratcher” and “Scratcher” ranks.
(basically “noob” and “pro,” if you want my opinion)
I don't think it should change your profile picture automatically. What would a “noob” picture be, anyway?

Why should this be a thing? Please explain.
I think the term “noob” is extremely disrespectful anyway. It makes new, inexperienced people sound like it's bad being new, and like they're “dumb”.
No Support.

How would “Noob” be different from “New Scratcher”?
This is my forum signature! On a forum post, it is okay for Scratchers to advertise in their forum signature. The signature is the stuff that shows up below the horizontal line on the post. It will show up on every post I make.
I was a Scratch Team member from May 10th 2019 to October 29th 2021. I reached 20,000 forum posts on June 24th 2024.

I thought “New Scratcher” meant a user could be a spammer, while “noob” could mean inexperienced/needing help? How would “Noob” be different from “New Scratcher”?

No Support. This is somewhat rude and really isn’t needed.
God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Advice:
Saying “Support” or “No Support” doesn't contribute anything to the conversation.
A question that has already been answered doesn't need to be answered twice with the same answer - bring something new to the table.

“New Scratcher” could mean inexperienced/needing help. New Scratchers are (possibly) new to Scratch (unless they're someone transferring accounts or making a side account).I thought “New Scratcher” meant a user could be a spammer, while “noob” could mean inexperienced/needing help? The New Scratcher rank was added with the purpose of combating spam; indeed, not all users with the New Scratcher rank are actually new Scratchers. This suggestion seems to be asking to add a noob rank to Scratch“New Scratcher” could mean inexperienced/needing help. 'Tis the intended use of the About Me section, forum signature, and your own profile picture. This does not need to be implemented as a rank. In fact the intention of New Scratcher vs Scratcher is merely to combat spam.

I highly doubt we really need this. I mean, how would it be different from a New Scratcher?

That is actually quite insulting. If someone wants to say they are a noob, they can put that profile pic in themselves and such and also say on their profile.

Based on the comments saying “noob” is disrespectful, I'd recommend renaming it to its word of origin: “newbie.”

I would say it's not that there are multiple definitions, but rather there are multiple interpretations of the word based off the context. Some people have a tendency to use it as a more derogatory term for new users, while others actually use the word for its intended definition.
Perhaps using “newbie” would work, but again that can have multiple interpretations.

You know, I think it was pretty obvious this guy was just joking.
Lots of people make good projects, but they get ignored! You should check out a random project made by a random Scratcher when you aren't busy!

I still don't think “newbie” sounds very welcoming… Based on the comments saying “noob” is disrespectful, I'd recommend renaming it to its word of origin: “newbie.”
Not necessarily obvious. Some people are serious about some things even if to some people it seems like it's a joke.. the forums aren't a place to make “silly” suggestions or jokes You know, I think it was pretty obvious this guy was just joking.
