So, when an offline editor comes for 3.0, will it have no size limit? Because it should not have a size limit if it is taking up purely the user's hard drive space.

We haven't started on the offline editor yet, but that sounds correct to me.

Yeah, not to mention this topic is periodically necroposted every year or month or so.

Try using something related to Scratch such as Blue and uploading it onto Scratch in the end.

I don't have a signature, not very political at this stuff.

What do you mean by Scratch Blue? Is that a premium version of Scratch, similar to YouTube Red?

It's a Scratch mod. The ST doesn't like people uploading modded projects, so it's not a great solution.

I Support removing it in the offline editor and making the project size limit bigger for the online editor.

That would be good. However, this would require change of the project size limit mechanism; currently it prevents editing over 50MB, but not sharing over 50MB. And editing includes adding sounds, but not importing a new sprite with sounds, so after that is done the project can be JSONhacked to merge two or more sprites with sounds, and then the oversized project can be shared.

For the record, I have never passed the size limit
I support raising the limit, not removing it.

Or using (In coorperation with Google Drive) your own Google Drive Space to store your projects. Then the limit can be removed

How would remixes of these Google Drive projects work, though?

Removing the pop sound from every sprite may make some more space

Nevermind this. I misunderstood something.

It only saves little space. Many people need much more space.

I do that by default! Who wants to use that sound anyway?

Making the limit higher, yes. Not removing the limit.

It is enough.

Just remove some sounds.
Use clones instead of duplicated sprites.

No, the current limit is definitely not enough, as bigger projects can easily hit the limit and not be able to be finished.

Is it sound that uses the most space in projects?

Yes so there is COMPRESS SOUNDS feature
because image and sounds are written in binary formats.
Sprites do not take much space because they are small(except thumbnail and in animations).

Sounds are of often of 3 seconds and music of 2 minutes which takes up a lot of space.

Yeah, I'm going with the Duck on this one.
It'd be really nice if there were a higher limit, maybe 100 MB, which in today's world is still not too big.
Scratch's audio doesn't sound very good right now anyway.
On the other hand, if we could make a worthwhile music editor on Scratch, using the basic instruments, that'd be really cool and save on a lot of space, while still giving the player a lot of original music. But the quality probably still couldn't match that of most modern gaming soundtracks. Anyone have a MIDI reader for Scratch yet?
Oooh, apparently there is one, but I have no idea how that thing is supposed to work.

I would suggest a slight raise, not the permanent removal of the size limit
