Scratch 3.0 Forum Suggestions
Assuming in Scratch 3.0, forums will be slightly/heavily modified, so here's a few suggestions I have:
1. Further coloring of each page.
You may or might not understand what I mean by this, but the forum pages (like this one) should be more colorful. Not a full rainbow design nor a solid color, but perhaps a small touch of white, blue, and/or orange? This doesn't mean the website would look 100% childish, but it would provide a more cheerful mood.
2. Simplified Emojis
Drawing inspiration from how the modern smiley has evolved, perhaps cleaner or more simpler emojis could be implemented. I was actually thinking some similar to this, too.
Obviously, there's some opposition to this suggestion. I, myself, enjoy emojis as long as they don't go overboard. However, I think the current smileys ( ) are becoming slightly less appealing to some audiences.
3. Top Section to each Sub-Forum
At the top of each sub-forum's main page, there could be a larger module at the top of the screen that summarizes the current stickies and is more noticeable to newer Scratchers. Obviously, some may actually read this, but others may not, but this is somewhat better than the current stickies. Once the new scratcher clicks “Close”, or sees the dialog for a number of times, the module would be gone and it's back to the current look. The module would look like something similar to this for Suggestions:
4. Automatic Necroposting Prevention
Duplicate to "Auto-lock Topics Based on Last Post", but most content has been snipped to its original points.
(NOTE: As a result of suggestion 4 being removed, most people have been moved to supporters.)

Welcome to the Suggestions forum! Please follow these tips to get the best responses possible!
> Keep posts relevant. Your posts should have something to do with the topic. Please don't just place random ScratchBlocks or offtopic posts in the Suggestions forums.
> Keep topics relevant. Make sure what you're talking about is in the correct location, so in here you should propose your suggestions only. Also make sure that what you're suggesting doesn't already exist.
> Read the stickies. A crucial guide to the Suggestions forums that help keep this area rolling and on-topic. Definitely worth reading and is found at the top of the list below.
> Don't necropost. Don't post on topics that have not been replied to for a long time.
> Be constructive. When posting in the Suggestions forums, please don't say “Support.” Please elaborate on why you support.{Alright, got it!}
4. Automatic Necroposting Prevention
Duplicate to "Auto-lock Topics Based on Last Post", but most content has been snipped to its original points.
- 30 day requirement until the necropost warning pops up.
- In alternation, especially for the Suggestions forums, instead of blocking, it could discourage or not even pop up.
- Friendly message rather than stale, standard one (i.e. "You cannot post here!")
(NOTE: As a result of suggestion 4 being removed, most people have been moved to supporters.)

Block MethodWhoa, this topic is old. Try not to necropost, or post after a long period of time.
Oops! This topic is old. Let's go back and surf the Scratch Forums!

Yes, I don't actually see the point of stickies, nobody reads them, and they can't be perfect unless they are made by the ST. So, the second suggestion would be a summary of the stickies, above the stickies?
Sigton
As for the necropost, I would do what my userscript does, and that is make the post button change colour with the text “Necropost this” instead of “Submit” after 3 months. (My userscript also highlights necroposts – but this is getting offtopic).

Well for the second suggestion, I kind of made it flexible for the Scratch Team. If they want to keep the stickies to further explain it, or they want to delete the stickies and keep the main message is up to them. So with the other ones, you support (with any feedback? So, the second suggestion would be a summary of the stickies, above the stickies?

Sure, but I don't think topics go that far after necroposting so closing the topic probably helps. And that's full support for all four? Yes, I don't actually see the point of stickies, nobody reads them, and they can't be perfect unless they are made by the ST.

Well, if you are in the suggestions forum, you have choice of necroposting and duplicatind. Just giving a warning should be sufficient to prevent newcomers from accidentally bumping up a threadWell for the second suggestion, I kind of made it flexible for the Scratch Team. Exactly, thus you have to necropost
Anyway, you should always have the ability to necropost – you should just be warned to be careful.

4 ~ I agree with this to some extent, but I believe it should only apply to people who haven't already posted on that thread. That way if somebody decides to reopen a shop or something, they can bump it back up without having to wait for reopening.

About the emoji one: No support, I know it's 2016 but I hate Metro/Windows 8 style UI. When Scratch 3.0 comes out I'll either still be using 2.0 or a userscript that makes 3.0 look like 2.0.

Yes, the owner of the topic will be able to re-open it. (0.75 support?) I support 4, but only under one condition: That, if the topic owner wishes, they can reopen their old topic. This'll make it so people can bump old, forgotten topics in Things I'm Making and Creating or Thing I'm Reading And Playing. I don't think just having it closed is a good idea.

I am probably the only one who has full support with this one. With 30 day old posts, nobody would read those. EXCEPT for the person who made it. The only issue with it is that the person who made the post is allowed to “necropost” or “reopen” their old posts, but anyone else can't. I love the idea about the extra colours inside of the forums; I mean, yes, it is (usually) a friendly place, but adding that extra flair will make it so much better! Neat ideas, Austinato!

It's just to monitor how popular the suggestion is. Does my support or lack of it matter?
Alright, I think it's already agreed that the necroposting suggestion allows the original poster to post again. I am probably the only one who has full support with this one. I think these would make Scratch better. I think it should be a necropost warning however as most necroposts happen when people don't know and sometimes you need to post on an old topic.
I was just thinking that the emojis need updating, then I found this.

Support for 1,2, and 3.
1) Will make the forums look more friendly and welcoming.
2) Will give us more options with the emojis, and will make Scratch feel more professional-ish. I guess.
3) Will help people notice the stickies, or at least lower the sticky-breaking post amount.
No support for 4, though.
4) Instead, I would suggest it to be just a warning. It would explain what a “Necropost” is. That way, the user can decide whether or not it's a “legal” necropost (maybe it's a suggestion) or not. Whatever the situation, somethings might want to be kept open.

I only disagree with 1.
Forums focus on words, maybe a little color, but I'd rather focus on discussion rather than pictures.

Alright, but this just prevents necroposting overall, with the fine exception of the OP. And for the emojis, that's a bit ironic. I think these would make Scratch better.
