Remove project size limit
In all honesty, I didnt know a size limit existed. Id say no change is needed.
If you are exceeding the limit, you either should use a different program or reduce the sizes and quantity of scripts in your game. Or sprites.
I could probably take someones game that has 300 scripts and reduce it to 100. That can save a lot of data.

Support.
You might just say “Oh you need to move onto an advanced website that uses more complicated scripts” but I am working on a Project which is __ over the limit. If I would remove just one costume, one script, one background, or one script, the whole project would completely break. When I found the sign popping up when I put a long gif animation on it, I was totally angry and upset. My whole work in was in flames and I felt like I've been punched.
I have no idea how Scratchers can not support this idea. Maybe it's because they've never been in that situation. Maybe it's because they don't like it when Scratch shuts down to do updates. They're the only reasons I can think of.

Well, let me just say that it's well over 100, or even 1000 over.

Alternatively one could ask permission for the Scratch team to increase their project's size limit though that could make more work for the Scratch Team.

Yeah, no. The ST has enough work on their hands. Alternatively one could ask permission for the Scratch team to increase their project's size limit though that could make more work for the Scratch Team.

I think that that is a good idea! Maybe the project size could be increased for non-new-scratchers. (Scratchers that aren't new) So the limit for new scratchers is 50MB, but maybe normal scratchers could have 75MB or something?
Please, don't. We're already limited to what we can do with the current restrictions, limiting our creativity because of text on a screen makes zero sense. It's fine enough, thanks.
In other words, DON'T.

No support for making the limit higher. 50MB is plenty for big projects. If you need more space, consider turning your costumes into .jpeg files and adjusting the compression (just the difference between 100% and 99% quality can be significant in most cases, with almost no visible loss). Also, unless you need size hacks then don't use bitmaps that you convert to SVG via the convert to vector button or a tool like inkscape. It makes a 33% size increase. Also, remove unnecessary assets, and know that duplicate assets in different sprites are stored at the same location on the server so I'm pretty sure it doesn't count in your total size.
“Plenty big” Really? You try creating a physics accurate vector graphic Polar express featuring dynamic sounds, vector clones and a complete soundtrack. Then tell me that we have enough space… I'm only one quarter done and have cleaned, compressed, even cut out whole chunks of my game and it's still hitting the limit. I've even removed half of the music! The sad thing I have to say to everyone here is i'm sorry, this project i've been wlrking on FOR A YEAR AND A HALF, Can not ever be completed for this christmas all because the file size has a limiter on it. I'm not asking for a limitless project. I'm asking if they'll give me enough memory to let the children on christmas be happy…

Funny thing there, People who make projects that don't reach the limit probably don't use as many sounds or costumes as the ones who do. I don't use gifs. Which is a main cause of size limiting. But I do use lots and lots lf vector art and sounds. And i can tell you… There is no memory at all when it comes to sounds. A Phone takes about 1 gb of memory on itunes alone. There is a 50mb limit. And thats for everything else too.

We could save a lot of grief if we had a warning *before* you hit the size limit. So if I reach 40mb or something similar, I'd be told I was approaching the limit and needed to be more careful. While it doesn't exactly make bigger projects possible (Unfortunately, the size limit does exist for a reason!), it does let users know to be more frugal with the data they use, and would (hopefully) reduce grief, simply because it wasn't a big, depressing surprise when you hit the 50mb limit.
As for you, miner146… gosh that's depressing. A year and a half? That's an amazing work ethic. Not everyone's that dedicated. Have you asked the Team? Maybe we *should* have a way to give more data to projects that really have proven they are going to be responsible with it… but it may take a lot of extra resources to moderate that failr and without tears… Gosh, I don't know. This suggestion is a tricky one. I don't know what to say. You've earned my respect for your work ethic.

You know what the funny thing is? They can host a kickstarter. They did it with ScratchJr, and exceeded the goal, so why not for more space?

No. That's a horrible idea. Why should we restrict a Newbie's creativity?

No support. It's to avoid taking up too much space on the servers. I'd like to see a higher limit, but not the absence of a limit.

I am trying to update Traffic Run Redline ( https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxy.canberra.edu.au/projects/86749920/ ) with the cars and music, but it won't let me do it because there is a size limit. Can you please help me with the error message?
